Any auction template created according to the following requirements will be integrated into the Nucite system.
How are the templates used?
A member fills out a set of forms with textual information about the auction they are posting. Those details are stored in a database and "plugged into" any of the templates available to the member. Therefore, each template holds the same information - only the layout of that information changes from one template to another. The designer is strongly encouraged to "play" with existing templates in the DEMO account of www.nucite.com.
Information In Each Template
Auction Title: a (generally short) string of text that describes the auction as a whole.
Auction Description: Area of the template used to describe the item being auctioned.
Payment Info: Section seller uses to explain the terms of their accepted forms of payment.
Shipping Info: Seller uses this section to explain how an item will be shipped to buyer.
Additional Info: Holds any additional information that seller wants to communicate to buyer.
Up to 12 Pictures: All templates must be able to hold anywhere from 0 to 12 pictures of the item being auctioned. The arrangement of these pictures is up to the designer, but they should follow somewhat of a logical pattern.
Company Information: Logo placeholder and Company description. Sellers have their own logos and company descriptions, but the template should house an area for this information to be displayed in a cohesive manner.
Ebay Links: Ebay page, Seller's Feedback and Sellers Other Auctions. Sellers can choose which links to include in their auction.
Things To Remember
Not all fields will be used in all auctions. Sellers can choose to include (or not include) any of the sections outlined above. Therefore, it is very important that the template is designed with flexibility in mind.
Template must be able to expand and contract. Since some sellers will have more lengthy descriptions than others, the design of the template should lend itself to expand and contract in areas where variable-length text is used (Auction Title, Description, Payment, Shipping, Additional Information, Company Description, Picture Sections, Ebay Links) .
Designer only develops the design. The designer should not concern his/herself with the logic needed to drive the template. This will be done by the programmer who implements the design of the designer.
Keep image file sizes low. Using images to support the template is highly desired for top-quality design, but it is very important that the total size of all images driving the layout of the template to be at a minimum. Keep in mind that these images will be delivered from high-traffic servers. Imagine one thousand sellers that each have one hundred auctions on Ebay. If each one used the same template that would be 100,000 auctions that are being continuously called from our servers. Those image file sizes add up fast and can slow down servers... just keep it in mind.
